Normally, when someone thinks about the Vikings, the image that comes to mind is someone who is unwashed and wears ugly cloths. The mode of dressing of the Vikings has been contributed to by various factors. It has been said that the clothing that was initially worn by the Vikings is worn and is back in fashion. Just like in the rest of the communities, the clothing of the Vikings is also based on the class of the people. The Vikings had three kinds of classes, including the Thralls, Karls and Jarls. The mode of dressing of the Vikings was also controlled by the climate. Even though Scandinavia is still cold today, it was colder in the past. There was a shift of one percent of the average temperature. Since their land was very cold, they had to find the kind of clothes that would help them keep warm. They had to include layers which would prevent them from falling sick.
Viking tunic was part of the clothes that the men wore. The Viking tunic was normally worn over an under-tunic. Linen is one of the materials that was used for making the clothes that were worn by men. Since the middle and the lower class were not able to afford linen, they used wool, read more now. A pair of trousers was used to cover the underwear worn by men. Leggings were also used in place of trousers. Their shoes were made of goat leather. Women did not wear clothes that are very different from what they wear today. The underdresses that were worn by women were also made of linen. The clothes made for women were used to cover their entire body. This was done to protect the women from the cold weather.
